COGECO CONNEXION SALUTES THE SUCCESS OF DRUMMONDVILLE’S FERME DES VOLTIGEURS
Montreal, November 23, 2016 – Cogeco Connexion is pleased to single out the outstanding contribution of Ferme des Voltigeurs to the prosperity and outreach of the Drummondville region’s business community.
Through its Celebrating Amazing Businesses campaign, which runs throughout the fall, Cogeco Connexion showcases local business leadership in the regions it serves with a series of recognition activities honouring six inspiring companies that have distinguished themselves through their competitiveness, outreach, and commitment to their community.
Among these inspiring organizations, Cogeco Connexion has selected Ferme des Voltigeurs, a family-run business dedicated to raising and slaughtering chickens. Ferme des Voltigeurs has carved out a place of choice on kitchen tables across Quebec and Ontario.
As far back as 1958, founder Denise Turcotte operated a simple kiosk selling various farm products. Today, the farm raises the highest quality chickens in leading-edge facilities spanning more than 30,000 ft2.
Over the years, Ferme des Voltigeurs has diversified and continued to grow its business. Staff members work 52 weeks per year – even during vacations – in order to offer consumers chicken fed and raised according to the highest industry standards. “When you love your work, you don’t count the hours,” says Dominique Martel, the founder’s son and current president of Ferme des Voltigeurs.
In 2012, the company gained renewed momentum. To meet growing demand, its directors initiated a shift aimed at modernizing its business, adding 20,000 ft2 of space to the farm’s existing facilities and increasing its production to 12,000 organic chickens per week.
“We’re proud to honour local economic players who contribute to the growth of the communities where we’re present,” said Antoine Shiu, Vice-President, Business Market Sales, Cogeco Connexion. “This campaign further strengthens Cogeco Connexion’s position as a leader in the field of communications and technology—a company distinguished by customer relations rooted in trust and strong ties to the communities we serve.”
