COGECO SWITCHES ON AMAZING 1GB INTERNET SERVICE
Montreal, June 13, 2017 – More committed than ever to providing its customers with an amazing experience, Cogeco Connexion is pleased to announce the launch of its UltraFibre 1Gig service, which will allow thousands of its customers in Trois-Rivières to benefit from speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second.
This announcement is the result of a series of investments in infrastructure upgrades carried out by Cogeco in recent months. Now available in different sectors of Trois-Rivières, Cogeco Connexion will continue expanding its ultra-high speed offering in successive phases in the Ontario and Québec markets where it provides services.
“We have always made our customers’ needs the primary focus of our priorities and decision-making process. Today’s announcement is further evidence of our unwavering commitment to the community of Trois-Rivières, which we have proudly served for 60 years. It also attests to our determination to offer our clients an amazing experience, while allowing them to keep pace with technology,” stated Johanne Hinse, Vice President, Sales Consumer Market and Community Relations with Cogeco Connexion.
“With online entertainment usage growing exponentially and the proliferation of connected devices, our Internet customers’ current demand for higher Internet speeds and greater download capacity continues to grow,” explained Daniel Boisvert, Vice President, Marketing & Innovation. “Today’s announcement is consistent with our unrelenting desire to meet our clients’ changing needs and reflects our commitment to offering them the best possible Internet experience thanks to our UltraFibre 1Gig service.”
Cogeco Connexion is launching this service to prepare for the ultra-connected homes and businesses of the future, thanks to a powerful hybrid network consisting of coaxial cable (HFC) and 11,000 km of linear fibre running from Windsor, Ontario to Gaspé in Québec.
“We are confident that, in pursuing the optimization of our network, which combines DOCSIS Evolution technology with Cogeco Connexion’s Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH)/EPON technology, we will be in a position to deliver speeds far exceeding 1 gigabit,” asserted Michel Blais, Vice President, Engineering and Operations. “As we continue to leverage our networks, we will keep pace with our customers’ needs. We will see to it that our customers have access to the right bandwidth speed and equipment, wireless technologies and service to optimize their online enjoyment.”
