Ultimate 30 customers have seen their upload speeds rise to up to 2 Mbps from 1.5 Mbps and their
monthly data transfer capacity increase to 175 GB from 125 GB. Ultimate 50 customers can now
enjoy increased upload speeds up to 2 Mbps from 1.5 Mbps and their monthly data transfer
capacity have risen to 250 GB from 150 GB.
Furthermore, for the Express 4, Express 8 and Turbo 14 packages the maximum monthly charge for
additional GB has been increased to $50 from $30.The maximum monthly charge of $50 on the
Ultimate 30 and Ultimate 50 packages has been removed, which means that bandwidth usage that
exceeds the specified monthly data transfer capacity will be billed at $1.00 per additional GB, with
no maximum limit.
Customers of Cogeco’s HSI services in territories where DOCSIS 3.0 technology has been
launched can now choose a brand new package – Turbo 20. This generous package offers
download speeds of up to 20 Mbps, upload speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps, a monthly data transfer
capacity of 80 GB and a cost of $1.50 per additional GB, up to $50 per month.
“We are constantly alert to market trends. In designing the evolution of our portfolio of HSI
packages, we made sure that the slight rate increases that reflect significant enhancements to our
service offering remain very competitive,” Mr. Perrotta concluded.
DOCSIS 3.0, a data compression technology that provides more efficient and economical
bandwidth utilization, is already available in a number of regions served by Cogeco. This positions
Cogeco very favourably to respond to the constant increase in bandwidth demand at a competitive
cost and provide access to higher data throughput, improved video configuration and an increased
level of security. DOCSIS 3.0 technology will continue to be rolled out gradually in new areas.
