Even more performance for Cogeco Cable Canada customers with the arrival of the latest generation of wireless modem
Montréal, Québec, March 30, 2015 – Beginning today, Cogeco Cable Canada is pleased to offer its customers in Québec and Ontario the latest generation of modems on the market, featuring wireless AC technology. Customers using this technology will enjoy a greater range of wireless coverage at home and faster download speeds.
“Daily Internet usage on wireless devices is growing steadily in Canadian homes, and an increasing number of families have numerous devices that perform a range of different functions simultaneously,” said Anne Isabelle Roussy, Vice President, Marketing and Product Development. “The new wireless AC technology means we can ensure that our customers enjoy fast and reliable wireless Internet access at all times and at a competitive price.”
Cogeco Cable Canada also reminds its customers of the importance of identifying any sources of interference in their homes that could have an impact on the performance of their wireless modem so that they can optimize their customer experience.
Wi-Fi interference in the home
There are two types of interference: passive and active. Passive interference is often caused by materials or objects that block the wireless signal, such as plaster, concrete, thermal windows, metal, mirrors, brick and wood. Active interference is caused by devices that operate on the same frequency as the wireless modem. For example, microwave ovens, cordless phones, wireless speakers, external or LCD monitors and baby monitors are all devices that could affect the performance of your wireless modem at home.
Most kinds of interference can be avoided by moving these sources of active interference away from the modem so that they will be outside the range of the wireless signal.
